WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI — August 13, 2026 — Spring Arbor Group, LLC ("Spring Arbor Group"), a philanthropic private equity firm investing in lower-middle-market companies, today announced that Freedom Partners No. 3 has closed on the acquisition of Clark & Riggs Printing, Inc. ("Clark & Riggs"), a Louisville, Kentucky-based commercial printing, fulfillment, and marketing services provider founded in 1992. Clark & Riggs will be tucked into the operations of Think Patented, Inc. of Dayton, Ohio — Freedom Partners No. 3's first portfolio company — creating a combined print platform that embodies Spring Arbor Group's core thesis: one investment, two returns.
The combined Think Patented and Clark & Riggs platform now spans the Dayton, Cincinnati, and Louisville regions — a footprint further sharpened by Louisville's position as home to the UPS Worldport global shipping hub. The platform is projected to generate combined operation ranking among the Top 100 printing organizations in North America, according to industry publication Printing Impressions. Clark & Riggs contributes large-format printing and folding carton capabilities, both of which command premium multiples and open immediate cross-sell opportunities across the combined customer base.
Clark & Riggs will continue to operate under its own name from Louisville. Founding partners Robert Riggs and Gary Clark will remain in leadership roles — as President and Vice President, respectively — to support the transition and guide the company's next chapter of growth alongside Think Patented's management team.
“One investment that generates two returns is central to our thesis — and this transaction delivers on both,” said Keith Dabbs, Managing Partner, President & CEO of Spring Arbor Group. “Clark & Riggs makes the combined platform stronger, delivers attractive returns to our investors, and continues to fund meaningful, ongoing value for charitable partners each of our investors cares about most.”
A defining feature of Spring Arbor Group's model is its charitable allocation structure: at subscription, each investor designates a 501(c)(3) charitable partner, and a portion of that investor's distributions flows directly to their designated organization. Since 2020, Spring Arbor Group has directed more than $700,000 in charitable impact across its portfolio activity.
